The D house by architects Donovan Hill, is a well documented iconic house. It is uber cool but it’s not until you are standing right beside it that you can really appreciate it. The house is so tiny! It’s remarkable what was achieved with such a small space. There is no mistaking the eye for DETAIL with the unexpected cut outs, the clean lines, the wood across the horizontal front window which all folds back to open up the entire room. I respect the use of CONSIDERED landscaping and the row of Tuckeroo Trees soften the facade perfectly. It’s a house that is made for its environment and just wouldn’t look as good anywhere else.

The D house sits unassumingly just off the design mecca ‘James Street’ in New Farm…..a suburb on the fringe of the city where Queenslander houses mix happily with the Ultra Modern.
